Lets take some of the anxiety out of your first visit so you know what to expect
After your first initial contact, I will reply to you by the end of the day. In this first contact, I will only ask if when you would like therapy and if you want online or face to face sessions, and explain how to find the clinic and answer any questions you may have. If you want to move forward and book an assessment, then we can look at your needs in more depth in your first session with me.
When you come for your initial assessment this can take up to an hour. During this time we will discuss how I can support you, and it provides the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Choosing the right counsellor for yourself or your child is important. Research shows that the 'therapeutic relationship' between client and counsellor is crucial to successful therapy. It is important that you feel safe, respected and understood.
For many of us, choosing to have counselling for the first time can feel like a step into the unknow. To make the process as easy as possible I also provide online and telephone counselling to fit around your personal needs and schedule. We would have the same assessment as in face to face therapy but over the phone or in an online session, depending on which you prefer. The initial assessment for online or face to face does not commit you to further sessions. From here you can decide if online or telephone therapy feels right to you, and again as described above, choosing the right counsellor is essential.
